Please note that the "What I say" is my own personal opinion, and you should not take offense at it, however offensive it may be. ^__^

Playable Characters

lloydavatar.jpg

Lloyd Irving

"I've lost all confidence as a man."

What Namco says:

"Gender: Male
Age: 17
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 128 lbs
Class: Swordsman
Race: Human
Hair: Dark Brown/Short Hair
Build: Average
Weapon: Two single-edged swords
Occupation: Student

The central character of the game, Lloyd was found in the woods with
Noishe when he was an infant. He now lives with his adoptive dwarf
father."

What I say:

Lloyd is your default character with half a brain, a good heart, and hair that defies gravity. He's generally a pretty likeable guy, and very easy to control. Lloyd refuses to accept the idea that it's okay to sacrifice humans for a cause, which is one of the only things that makes him different from Mithos. You may recognize his voice as Robin from Teen Titans. Lloyd has this weird move where he pulls his clenched fist towards himself that makes him look like the leader of the Justice League or something, and he may say dumb stuff (like his "amazingly corny speech", thank you Mithos) and wear a hillbilly outfit, but he is nonetheless a pretty likeable guy. You have to like him. He's your main village man! And he's from a village, too!

charactercollete3.jpg

Colette Brunel

"You're looking for a four-leaf clover!"

What Namco says:

"Gender: Female
Age: 16
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 97 lbs
Class: Chosen
Race: Human
Hair: Platinum Blonde/Long Hair
Build: Slender
Weapon: Chakram
Occupation: Student/Chosen

Colette is the game's heroine and Lloyd's childhood friend. Though
normally a bit clumsy and seemingly care-free, she has a strong will
and sense of responsibility hidden underneath her soft appearance --
she bears the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is not the
type who looks to other for protection. If anything, she is bold and
daring in times of need, always willing to sacrifice herself to help
her friends."

What I say:

Ah, Colette, Colette. What are we going to do with you? As Regal once said, "Why does the topic of conversation always go out the window when talking to Colette?" If you think Lloyd is dumb, look at Colette. Dumb and Dumberer: When Colette met Lloyd. Anyways...Colette is your average goody-two-shoes out to save the world that gets all posessed and crap, and who's pretty much useless in battle. She's more likeable than Yuna, though. (My friend drove me to hate Final Fantasy, and yes, I've played 3 of the games and that was good enough for me!) Back to Colette...she fights with chakrams, which are like giant rings, but does a better job of using her angel powers gained early on in the game. Even then, she still doesn't do a very good job...my opinion of Colette is very low, though she's quite cute at times. It's just that she's Lloyd's "Yoko Ono;" she hangs off him like some kind of ball and chain. Hello? I'd like to speak to Zelos if you don't mind!! You get kinda sick of all her speeches with Lloyd, especially the second time around. Nonetheless...cute, just...stay away from me. *twitch*

charactergenius.jpg

Genis Sage

"What an ass. He was standing there smiling like an idiot the whole time. What's wrong with that guy?"

What Namco says:

"Gender: Male
Age: 12
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 64 lbs
Class: Mage
Race: Elf
Hair: Silver
Build: Slender
Weapon: Kendama
Occupation: Student

This young boy is one of Lloyd's closest friends. He's a child prodigy
-- not only is he the smartest student in the village, he is a talented
mage as well. Because of these abilities, he is overflowing with self-
confidence, to the point of looking down upon others."

What I say:

Kudos to Genis, the smart-ass of the group whose name ryhmes with you-know-what! Genis has got some big eyes, but he's one of the cutest characters in the game, especially when he does his nifty kendama-casting-spell dance. His spells are the only techs worth paying attention to most of the time, and between the voice-acting and learning spells he'll probably give you the most headaches, but he's still awesome. Genis is the proud owner of some of the best lines in the game, some of which include falling down while trying to carry out an operation in secret and yelling "OWWWWW!", "Ha-ha, you got re-ject-ed!" and the scariest laugh I have ever heard come out of a twelve-year-old. Genis doesn't like humans because he's a tard--no, actually it's because he's a half-elf and all the humans in ToS besides the party say, "Half-elves me no likey" so he's all like "You humans are all the same." Genis is abused by his older sister and is going to go on strike one of these days...you just wait...with spells like Indignation (which is so cool I named the site after it), who knows? Maybe we should fear for our lives.

characterrefill.jpg

Raine Sage

*kick*"Don't try to put the blame on someone else!"*kick*

What Namco says:

"Gender: Female
Age: 23
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 108 lbs
Class: Mage
Race: Elf
Hair: Silver
Build: Average
Weapon: Staff
Occupation: Teacher

Raine is the teacher of the school Lloyd, Colette, and Genis attend.
She is also Genis' older sister. She is asked to join Colette on her
journey because of her knowledge of archeology and the magical arts.
Although normally cool and logical, her passion for archeology gets
the best of her at times."

What I say:

First of all--Raine is a force of nature to be reckoned with! Fear her and her bitchslap of fury. You mess with ruins, you mess with Raine. Anyhoo...Raine is absolutely vital to your party. You hear everyone say this; there's a reason for that! Two of her spells are offensive, the rest are healing. If Raine dies, you're all dead. Keep her back there with lots of TP and it'll save you a lot of items. (except Orange and Pineapple gels) If you want to get a high relationship with Raine, let me give you a tip; Raine is evil. When you have to choose an option in the game, the one that hurts everyone else's feelings will be the one Raine likes. Trust me on this one. Also...don't let Raine cook for you. She sucks. I mean, a spicy cake? I'm trying to eat over here! Raine still rules, though.

characterkratos.jpg

Kratos Aurion

"Blame your fate."

What Namco says:

"Gender: Male
Age: 28
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 172 lbs
Class: Mage/Swordsman
Race: Human
Hair: Dark Brown
Build: Average
Weapon: Double/edged sword
Occupation: Mercenary

Kratos is a mercenary hired to accompany the chosen on her journey of
regeneration. He is a skilled swordsman -- Lloyd's swordsmanship pales
in comparison. His cool demeanor and logical approach to handling
situations irritate Lloyd, who tends to handle things completely the
opposite way."

What I say:

Let me start off by saying Kratos IS in fact irritating, and by the end of the game, Lloyd can totally whoop his arse. Kratos could be a cyclops and we would never notice, what with all that hair in front of his face. He likes his swordmanship refined and served on a crystal platter, and fate is to blame for everything. Personally, I find Kratos useful in battle, but boring everywhere else. He runs around like some kamikaze freak and does First Aid a lot. He can also be taught many other spells. Also, Kratos pulls a Darth Vader, if you get my drift...*nudge nudge wink wink* Ahem.

charactershihnah2.jpg

Sheena Fujibayashi

"You better shut up or I'll smack you!"

What Namco says:

"Gender: Female
Age: 19
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 106 lbs
Class: Summoner
Race: Human
Hair: Black
Build: Voluptuous
Weapon: Cards infused with magical energy
Occupation: Assassin

Sheena is an assassin sent from the prospering world of Tethe'alla
to stop Colette from succeeding in her journey of regeneration. If
Colette succeeds in reviving Sylvarent, then Sheena's world will be
ruined. Similar to Colette, Sheena carries the fate of her world on
her shoulders."

What I say:

Oh dear...they spelled Sylvarant wrong. Anyhow, Sheena is indeed voluptuous, or maybe it's just her outfit. Either way...Sheena's a pretty cool girl who comes from ancient Japan--I mean, Mizuho, a ninja-clan like village with some of the weirdest customs I can think of. She likes to die in battle, and is the reason you have to go to all those temples and make pacts with Summon Spirits. When Sheena goes into overlimit, SUMMON! That's the only time you can! Um, what else...she has a crush on Lloyd but is, deep down, hopelessly in love with Zelos, and don't get her formal outfit or bathing suit unless you're a guy.

characterzelos.jpg

Zelos Wilder

"Oh, no. My beauty shines from within and cannot be hidden by a mask."

What Namco says:

"Gender: Male
Age: 22
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 150 lbs
Class: Mage/Swordsman
Race: Human
Hair: Red
Build: Average
Weapon: Double-edged sword
Occupation: Chosen of Tethe'alla

Zelos is Tethe'alla's chosen one. His good looks, his title, and his
smooth charm make him irresistible with most women. Because of this,
he can be a bit arrogant and egotistical at times. He doesn't take
things too seriously, and thus has a laissez-faire attitude toward his
duties as the chosen."

What I say:

Give it up for the one, the only...Zelos Wilder, pimpin' Chosen of Tethe'lla, philanderer, flirt, and narcissist! You first meet him at Meltokio in all his pink glory, surrounded by his annoying "hunnies." Zelos is hella useful in battle, and one of the most likeable (but annoying) characters in the game. Despite his friendship with Lloyd, his ending is actually the hardest to get. I have yet to do it...but next game, Zelos, you just wait...and Zelos is one of the main reasons the game is rated T. Him and his "suggestive themes"--but it is so funny, trust me. He wears bowling shoes and his arms look like rubber when he runs, but Zelos is one awesome character. All hail the Mysterious Handsome Masked Swordsman Zelos!(aka Evil Bird)

characterpresea2.jpg

Presea Combatir

"Are you hiding your face because that outfit is embarrassing?"

What Namco says:

"Gender: Female
Age: Looks around 12
Height: 4'6"
Weight: 53 lbs
Class: Axwoman
Race: Human
Hair: Pink
Build: Typical child's build, but slightly small for her age
Weapon: Ax
Occupation: Woodcutter

Presea works as a woodcutter in place of her sick father. Although
she is small and slender, she manages to heft with ease a heavy ax that
most adults would struggle to lift. This is possible due to the special
Exsphere she has equipped. This special Exsphere however, suppresses
Presea's humanity -- she does not display any sort of emotion at all."

What I say:

Totally one of the cutest and most useful characters in the game, at least, after you finish the Toize Valley Mines. Presea's got that big honkin' axe to lug around, but she does it with no problem. Just watch her bang that thing--800 damage at a time! Yeah, man! Ahem...right after Presea joins your party, it becomes very clear that someone has quite the crush on her...*coughGeniscough* but she barely, if at all, notices. Maybe it's because Presea is a lot older than she seems...for the time being, think of her as the same age as Lloyd. ^__^

characterregal.jpg

Regal Bryant

"You shall not pass!"

What Namco says:

"Gender: Male
Age: 33
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 187 lbs
Class: Fighter
Race: Human
Hair: Blue
Build: Large, fairly muscular
Weapon: Greaves
Occupation: Former aristocrat

Regal is a prisoner of the prosperous world of Tethe'alla. Sent to
capture Colette on behalf of the pope, Regal is extremely quiet and
constantly wears a grim expression. The few words that escape his lips
are dignified and carefully thought out. They are perhaps traces of
his aristocratic background."

What I say:

Regal is one of the only characters in the game that makes me think, "Remind me again what you're doing here?" Sure, he may be pointless and not all that peachy in battle, but this guy and Raine are the connections to sanity in the party. You looking for a cool head, look no further. You looking for long, drawn-out and unessicarily fancified speeches, look no further as well. "What is this ominous light that threatens to engulf us?" I mean, come on, man! Do they realized how forced that sounds? Maybe they do...it sure was funny. Also, Regal will sometimes have the amazing ability to tell what you're thinking..."That's a very disturbing laugh." was exactly what had been going through my mind at that point! Anyway, he's fun to speculate about, what with the handcuffs and all, and pretty cool in skits...even though he wears a belly-dancer shirt.

Non-Playable Characters

**SPOILERS AHEAD!**

Mithos Yggdrasill

cutelookingmithosavatar.gif

"That was an amazingly corny speech. Congratulations."

Isn't this the funniest-looking picture of Mithos you've ever seen??!?! Ahem. Anyways...

Ah, Mithos, the ultimate villian of the game! But is he really? I mean, come on...Mithos is a misunderstood 14-year-old (well, he stopped aging at 14) who just wants to stop discrimination and bring back his sister. Speaking of his sister, Martel...he is OBSESSED. Freaking obsessed. The whole reason he's trying to create the "Age of Lifeless Beings" is because he took her last wish, to have "a world free from discrimination" in a twisted way. When you first meet Mithos, he's all like "Oh God help me I"m some innocent little girly man left all by my lonesome in Ozette will you please be my friend" and Genis completely falls for it. I think half of us were expecting Genis to betray us later on in the game and go with Mithos instead. But...he didn't, and all's well. I liked Mithos, and felt sorry for him at the end. He was too cute to die! But...just a warning to all of you, Mithos is seriously off his rocker. Crazy, lost his marbles, cuckoo, whatever you wanna call it.

yuanpancake.gif

Yuan (who apparently does not have a last name)

"So you've come, like moths to the flame."

Blue Haired Pretty Man With Cape That Goes Fwoosh! Ahem...Yuan is one of the coolest NPCs in the game! He fights with a huge double-bladed axe and looks weird without his cape on. Yuan is a double agent and is working for both the Renegades (leading them, actually) and Cruxis, but later in the game he gets busted by Mithos and is like "Well, screw this," and leads the Renegades....I don't care if that's not exactly how it happens, leave me alone! You can also do a sidequest with him where you find out he was in lurv (translation: love) with Martel, engaged or possibly married. You also learn that Yuan wasn't paying attention in etiquette class. He doesn't know the magic words...please and thank you! Don't they have Barney in Symphonia?

tabatha.jpg

Tabatha

"MITHOS...SAVED...ME..."

Tabatha is...weeeeird. She is an automated doll made by the dwarf, Altessa. You first meet her shortly after getting to Tethe'alla. Apparently, one of the characteristics of being a robot is talking in all caps. Tabatha plays a fairly important role later on...*wink wink* And according to Mithos, she looks "so disturbingly like his sister" which she does...bit of foreshadowing there.

"..."
Yuan No-Last-Name, during the Mana Cannon scene
